The Ebotse Golf & Country Estate course has been referred to as Peter Matkovich's 'little secret' as know one really knows what a spectacular course he has created. Since day one Peter Matkovich has said, "Ebotse is a wonderful opportunity to create an environmentally sensitive and balanced golf course, combining links, lakeside and parkland."

If passion was at the centre of the success of a golf course then Ebotse Golf & Country Estate would win hands down. Crafted by developers with a personal vision and uniquely designed and constructed by Matkovich & Hayes, the Ebotse course will burst with pride end 2007, when all the hard work delivers not only a view, but an experience of a life time.

Underpinning this project is an unyielding respect for the land and its natural surroundings. It is a Matkovich & Hayes philosophy to listen to the land, believing that nature shapes their design. Never has this been more real than at Ebotse Golf & Country Estate.

The team literally moved heaven and 2 million m3 of earth to create what will undoubtedly be the most unique golf course ever to be built in Gauteng. The 40 hectare lake provides the tranquillity and contentment as only a body of water can. The abundance of birds breathe life into the estate everyday; soaring above and beyond what will not only be a milestone for the development team, but for the unassuming community of Benoni.

Peter Matkovich says there are several aspects that make Ebotse Golf & Country Estate’s golf course remarkable. The first, and most obvious, is its elevation. Most courses in Johannesburg are built on flat ground. As a result of the natural terrain, Ebotse Golf & Country Estate has given Peter a unique sculpting gift. “With no additional sand required, I am able to simply use what already exists to create spectacular features such as tee shots from a height of 15 to 25 metres.”

Surrounding Rynfield lake, the golf course will boast a truly unique driving range in a man-made lake. Having invested millions in the rehabilitation, the Estate will have a driving range never experienced by most golfers. Peter’s vision includes the very clever use of what once was a quarry. Dramatically transformed into a driving range, it will include several floating greens and will enable golfers to hit floating balls into the lake.

Another major plus for golfers is Ebotse Golf & Country Estate’s short holes. According to Andy Bean, CEO - Matkovich & Hayes, the four short holes featured, will rank as one of the best in the world: “Peter is renowned for his short-hole design. What he has created on Ebotse Golf & Country Estate is world ranking play without a doubt.”

Golfers will leave the course with an irresistible urge to return.
