The new Hermanus now has 27 holes, and each nine is as good as the other in terms of playability and pleasure. The club enjoyed one of its busiest “seasons” in this seaside resort, putting through 400 rounds a day in December-January for almost a month while the holidaymakers were in town. The course has been ranked purely on holes 1-18, which includes nine entirely new holes, as this is regarded as the championship 18. But the club’s old back nine is equally good, if not quite as daunting.
