In Volume 3 of The Confidential Guide to Golf Courses, Tom Doak published that.

“From the driveway up to the clubhouse right through to the finishing hole alongside it and the lunch afterward, Mt Bruno is one of the loveliest places in golf. Its members are also regular visitors to places like Muirfield, Brookline, Hoylake and Myopia, and their taste is most evident in and around the long red-shingled clubhouse, with its screened interiors and grassy sitting area outside.

The course is set on the side of the mountain, with the holes laid out sidehill, uphill and downhill across a strong grade that makes reading the contours of the greens quite difficult. There are only two par-5 holes, but an excellent set of par-3’s: the uphill 3rd with its small back terrace, the plain-Jane 7th with its green unexpectedly falling away to the back right behind a bunker, the drop-shot 10th to a green in a pocket, and the 230-yard 15th to a huge green divided left and right by a very strong ridge. The longer holes suffer a bit from the clutter of trees, and from narrowed fairways that don’t do justice to the scale of the property. Some of the downhill holes are aligned toward gumdrop-shaped mountains in the distance, and it’s a shame that those views are now partially obscured.”

Mount Bruno Golf Club received a score of 7 out of 10 from Tom Doak.
