Mount Juliet Golf Club

Ireland, Dublin and East
5.2 (6)
Designer: Jack Nicklaus
Course Opened: 1991

Designed by Nicklaus Design, Mount Juliet is standard resort fare with few truly redeeming holes and barely a single feature of the site incorporated into the design, aside from the odd mature tree. There are hundreds of courses like this in America, and visitors to Ireland looking for a break from the everyday won't find it at this resort.

On the positive side there is plenty of green grass here, but the routing lacks flow and the design seems a little formulaic with scant regard paid to the topography available. At times you walk off one flat hole, up an interesting incline to reach another flat hole, the layout quite dull as a result and not as challenging as it may appear on the scorecard.

The rolling mounds, flattish Nicklaus bunkers and obligatory ponds all add to the lack of excitement, while the typically long and water dominated closing holes conclude a sadly underwhelming golf experience.
