Greywolf Golf Course

Canada, Canadian Rockies, Alberta, Banff
6 (6)
Designer: Doug Carrick
Course Opened: 1999

Situated just two hours from Banff Springs and built within a similarly impressive Alpine setting, Greywolf is a breathtaking modern course located at the base of a ski resort in the Purcell Mountains. Boasting almost constant 360 degree mountain panoramas, the course is also home to one of the most thrilling holes in all of Canada, the 6th, which is so dramatic that all eighteen holes were actually planned around it. Played across a massive canyon to a shallow target suspended precariously at the end of a rocky ledge and falling sharply on all sides, the hole is like a mountain version of the famous 7th hole at The National Golf Club (Old Course) in Australia.

Aside from the stunning beauty of the 6th and the overwhelming challenge of the uphill opening hole, other moments sure to impress here include the 7th, the short par four 11th, the par three 12th, the last half of the 14th and the strategic right-bending 16th. The real highlight, however, is unquestionably the 6th hole and although the architecture does not quite reach the heights of Banff Springs, the overall quality of golf at Greywolf is very good and, in truth, probably a little overshadowed by the beauty of the property.
