Media Release:

Golf Australia today announced Qatar Airways as an official partner, signing a three-year agreement with the world-renowned airline.

The multiple award-winning company is also the exclusive airline partner of the this week’s ISPS HANDA Women’s Australian Open in Adelaide, a fully sanctioned event on the global LPGA Tour.

The national carrier for the State of Qatar is also the official international airline partner of Australian Football League’s Sydney Swans after signing a similar three-year sponsorship with the iconic New South Wales club in 2016.

Qatar Airways Senior Manager of Australasia, Mr. Adam Radwanski, said: “Qatar Airways is pleased that our second foray into high-profile Australian sports sponsorship is with an organisation as prestigious as Golf Australia.

“We believe in the power of sport as a way of connecting our passengers through their passions and hobbies, and the internationally-respected Golf Australia is the right partner to showcase our ongoing commitment to the Australian market.”

Golf Australia’s chief executive Stephen Pitt was excited about the announcement.

“To have the world’s fastest-growing airline join our partnership portfolio is a true reflection of the organisation’s vision and direction for the sport.

“We look forward to working in partnership with Qatar Airways with the shared goal of driving golf participation and rewarding golfers across the country.”

The Golf Australia sponsorship follows a busy 2018 for the airline with the successful launch of the new Canberra-Sydney-Doha route, the introduction of its state-of-the-art A380 aircraft on the Perth route and the new menu launch for all Australian routes with celebrity chef George Calombaris.

Qatar Airways currently operates a modern fleet of more than 230 aircraft to a network of around 160 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, North America and South America.

The airline was named ‘World’s Best Business Class’ at the 2018 World Airline Awards, managed by international air transport rating organisation Skytrax. It was also named ‘Best Business Class Seat’, ‘Best Airline in the Middle East’ and ‘World’s Best First Class Airline Lounge’.

Qatar Airways launched an array of exciting new destinations recently, including Gothenburg, Sweden; Mombasa, Kenya; and Da Nang, Vietnam. In addition to Davao, the airline will add a number of exciting new destinations to its extensive route network in 2019, including Malta, as well as many more.
