Located in the heart of the picturesque Red Hill Valley at the foot of the scenic Niagara Escarpment, King's Forest GC is without a doubt one of the premier public golf courses in Canada.

Designed by former parks foreman Matt Broman, with input from Chedoke Head Professional Rod Goodes, the course opened for play in the fall of 1973. It measures 7,150 yards, par-72 from the tips with a rolling layout that features some terrific elevated tee shots, lots of challenging doglegs and six holes cross the Red Hill Creek. The addition of irrigation ponds and significant improvements to the Red Hill Creek that winds its way through the property over the last 12 months have only added to the challenge.

While there are some wonderful holes at King's Forest the highlight of the round is usually the par-4 11th. There's a towering tee shot with a 100-foot drop to the tree-lined fairway below. It takes a second perfect shot over Red Hill Creek to a medium green that's tucked into the surrounding forest with a menacing trap on the right side that is visible from the tee.

Those who make it past this one surely should have a smile on their face when posting a three or four on the scorecard. Achievements don't come easy when playing King's Forest because there is a lot more roll and elevation change than one might think for this walk in the park – and yes, many people do walk it.
