Golf Club Beuerberg

Germany, South Germany, Munich
5 (2)
Designer: Donald Harradine
Course Opened: 1983

Standing on the opening tee at the Golf Club Beuerberg in Germany, there are great hopes for a wonderful day's golf as both the 1st and 18th holes are on gloriously rolling ground and the practice fairway drops dramatically and looks toward a  distant mountain silhouette. Sadly this is as good as the golf gets on this very disappointing track from architect Donald Harradine. The rest of the holes are very flat and built across ground devoid of any redeeming movement or undulation.

Worse still, the design is not strong either and construction issues are all too apparent. the bunkers are mostly unattractive shallow scrapes of sand, and the greens have almost no interesting putting contours. Driving is dull too, with either wide spacious fairways or narrow holes cut through trees.

There is almost nothing to recommend here at all, and holes like the 5th, 10th and 13th are among the worst in this fairly weak golf country. The 10th is a short four through a narrow strip of trees, the fairway kicking virtually all tee shots into the right trees. The 5th is even worse, a short four in length it is basically just a flat, boring hole that club members are sure to tire of quickly.

There was potential here for decent golf, but as it stands Beuerberg doesn't seem worthy of its place on Europe's Top 100 list.
