The host venue for the 2023 Ryder Cup in Italy, the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club is located less than 15 miles from the city of Rome and occupies an historic estate that includes the Marco Simone Castle, which was built in approximately 1000 A.D.

The 18-hole Championship Course selected to host the Ryder Cup, occupies around 100 hectares in total area and is surrounded by the rounded hills of the Roman countryside. The course was designed by American Jim Fazio, and renovated by the team at European Golf Design in preparation for the 2023 event.

From the golf course website:

A skilled and complicated work of shaping was made to transform the old hunting and grazing paths into an exciting succession of holes, while maintaining the original features. The architect Jim Fazio has again revealed his great skills by designing two perfect rounds of 9 holes that start and end by the splendid clubhouse, assuring great fun for all players. Indeed, thanks to the wide variety of tees, each hole can be played from a variety of different points, bringing into play always new obstacles and providing a setting that is ideal for both beginners and professionals.
