Carnoustie Golf Links

Scotscraig Golf Club

Scotland, East Coast, Tayside
4.5 (6)
Designer: James Braid
Course Opened: 1923

In Volume 1 of The Confidential Guide to Golf Courses, Tom Doak published that.

“Just south of the Tay Bridge, Scotscraig is not truly a links, but the combination of heath and firm ground gives it that feel. The cracking par-4 4th hole, with its second shot over a valley to a difficult raised green, was most likely the inspiration for the “Knoll” hole found on several C.B. Macdonald and Seth Raynor designs in the USA. But, we might never have discovered this except that a friend of mine who came over to play at Piping Rock, Dave Oswald, had grown up at Scotscraig and instantly recognized its progeny.“

Scotscraig Golf Club received a score of 4 out of 10 from Tom Doak.
