In Volume 2 of The Confidential Guide to Golf Courses, Tom Doak published that:

“It is rare to find a 36-hole facility where the members are equally happy to play either course, but that seems to be the case at Forest Creek. We prefer the shotmaking challenge of the South course, but the North distinguishes itself with big, bold bunkering of the sort you expect to find, but don’t, in an area known as the Sand Hills of North Carolina. It’s interesting that Fazio was able to give these side-by-side courses such different character, when he struggled with the same assignment at Pinehurst #4."

The North Course at Forest Creek received two scores of 6 out of 10 and one score of 5 from Tom Doak’s co-authors.
