Media Release:

Golf Redefined is the mantra of Blitz Golf, the world's only short-format version, set to make a massive impact in 2024, offering a fresh opportunity for players and spectators to enjoy the game from a different perspective.

For the first time since its inception, Blitz Golf will bask in the national spotlight, with four events confirmed across four states during the Summer of Golf, and a fifth event soon to be announced. With no clashes with PGA of Australia events, Blitz Golf will feature a national points race with bigger purses, offering leading players more playing opportunities.

The Blitz Golf Series will have national coverage for the first time, with a broadcast partnership to be unveiled soon. The series will showcase some of the best professionals from Australia (male and female) competing against celebrities. Additionally, there will be a unique opportunity for an elite amateur to win a chance to play alongside the pros and celebrities.

The latest instalment of Blitz will continue to bring innovation for the 2024/25 season, with exciting initiatives being implemented. Live music, mascots, fan activations, and a competition on the Stadium Hole and other Blitz staples will continue, while the non-stop action will revolve around the centrally located Stadium Hole and Fan Zone.

The unique format is what truly sets Blitz Golf apart from anything else in the world of golf. The 10- hole competition over three progressively shorter rounds with multiple cuts ensures that every shot matters and has an impact on the outcome of who advances and who is eliminated.

All of which is wrapped up in three hours, making Blitz the ultimate golf entertainment product and earning its mantle as the T20 of Golf.

The Australian-born idea has grown exponentially in its first five years by offering something to both traditional golf fans and those just looking for exciting and enjoyable entertainment and a festival-like atmosphere.

Founder and Director of Blitz Golf, Simon Zybek, says the tournament is designed to complement and integrate with the regular golf season.

“Blitz Golf is the perfect format for twilight entertainment, as well as being ideal for both on-course fans and television/online audiences,” says Simon.

“It can coexist with any golf tour and is the perfect complement to any event in the world, bringing a sponsorship and television-friendly product into tournament week.”

Simon says the tournament intends to engage fans from all sports and all walks of life, with pop-up bars, food trucks, live music, and child-friendly entertainment also adding to the unique event atmosphere.

“On the back of exciting developments across the professional game globally,
golf has never been more popular,” says Simon. “Blitz Golf is a tournament that excels in bringing fresh excitement to the game. Blitz Golf is an entertainment brand, with golf as the central attraction. It is a fun, light-hearted atmosphere while still maintaining the attributes of a high prize money professional golf competition.”

As domestic popularity continues to grow, international interest from media channels, sponsors, and investors is increasing in Blitz Golf, with the tournament now looking to expand its format globally.

The 2024-25 Australian Blitz Golf season will, for the first time, begin in Adelaide – kickstarting the series with what has traditionally been the season-ending event. The series will start on Friday, 20th December, before heading to Phillip Island for what is expected to be a massive new event on Saturday, 21st December. The series will then finish with Brisbane on Friday, 3rd January and finally Perth on Sunday, 5th January.
