Media Release: Golf Australia and Walkinshaw Sports, exclusive distributor of Under Armour Golf to the green grass market, today announce a three-year partnership.

It is the first major partnership for Golf Australia since One Golf began in October. One Golf represents a unified governance structure for the sport with five of the seven states and territories committed.

Walkinshaw Sports will now provide Under Armour performance golf apparel, footwear and accessories for the staff and stakeholders of all participating states, while also connecting directly with Australian golfers through the handicap system. Currently more than 37,000 golfers each day are checking their handicap at www.golf.org.au, the Golf Australia homepage.

Golf Australia commercial general manager Kent Boorman welcomed the partnership which he says will drive benefits to Walkinshaw Sports throughout the year.

“Without doubt, Under Armour is one of the youngest and more disruptive apparel brands in sport, not just golf, and it’s fantastic to have an association with the company, through Walkinshaw Sports, in our partnership portfolio,” Boorman said.

“One of our key priorities is to attract more young people to the game and we believe the association with a global brand such as Under Armour, which has great appeal to a younger audience across a range of sports, is key to achieving this.”

Dan Harrap, Walkinshaw Sports General Manager, was excited about the possibilities the new partnership offered to grow awareness of Under Armour in the Australian golf market.

“We look forward to working in collaboration with Golf Australia on initiatives to grow not only the Under Armour golf brand, but the game itself,” said Dan Harrap, who was also pleased with the scope One Golf offers to achieve the company’s goals.

“Walkinshaw Sports, as the exclusive green grass distributor of Under Amour golf, is excited to partner with Golf Australia, which is now a leader in sport governance in the country and this deal represents a significant opportunity for us to connect with golfers around the nation.”
