Media Release:
A host of leading South Australian sports stars will take on the 2026 women’s Australian Open tournament course at Kooyonga Golf Club in Wednesday’s Pro-Am event.
Past and present athletes from cricket, AFL, AFLW, Super Netball, and a Paralympic gold medallist will put their golf skills to the test on one of Australia’s premier courses, setting the stage for four days of elite women’s golf in the national open, co-sanctioned by the WPGA Tour of Australasia and the Ladies European Tour (LET).
Australian cricket stars Travis Head and Tahlia McGrath will swap their bats for clubs on Wednesday and will be joined by former national representatives Greg Blewett and Andrea McCauley.
Adelaide Crows AFLW players Sarah Allan, Danielle Ponter, and Keeley Kusterman will compete alongside Port Adelaide rivals Kirsty Lamb, Sophie Eaton, Ash Woodland and Lucy Boyd, with retired AFL veteran Paul Seedsman also in the field.
Adelaide Thunderbirds premiership players Matilda Garrett and Georgie Horjus will also feature, along with Paralympic gold medallist rower Nikki Ayers, Renegades Big Bash player Jake Fraser-McGurk, and former Australian cricketer Callum Ferguson to round out the celebrity lineup.
The 2026 women’s Australian Open is headlined by the nation’s top talent, with Minjee Lee, Hannah Green, Grace Kim, and Stephanie Kyriacou among the favourites to end a 12-year wait for a homegrown champion since Karrie Webb’s 2014 victory.
The Pro-Am will tee off with a shotgun start at 7:30am local time on Wednesday and is open to the public.
