Aside from helping steer Europe to Ryder Cup glory on more than one occasion, Jose Maria Olazabal also won two US Masters at Augusta National and is a man with the pedigree and reputation to secure plenty of design work in his native Spain and across Europe.

Whether Olazabal is a passionate golf designer or a celebrity cashing in on his success remains unclear, but he is becoming prominent in the golf design space throughout Europe. Among notable courses bearing his name are two at Costa Navarino in Greece (Navarino Hills and the International Olympic Academy courses), Real Club de Golf Seville and the Olazabal Course at Mission Hills in China. The Mission Hills courses has abundant bunkering, as a tip of the hat to the Spaniard's legendary sand save skills. The Olazabal course at Mission Hills was one of ten built by Schmidt and Curley.
