Media Release:

Next week the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia and WPGA Tour of Australasia returns to the Hunter Valley once more for the second edition of TPS Hunter Valley, hosted by Jan Stephenson and Peter O’Malley at Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort.

Part of the Webex Players Series, the world’s most inclusive and innovative golf tournament series, TPS Hunter Valley will see men and women Tour professionals compete in the same field for the same prize purse and the same trophy.

In 2023 the Webex Players Series has expanded even further to include an All Abilities field at each event. This addition means these incredible athletes have access to professional tournament playing opportunities which will assist them to build their game and compete at the elite level both in Australia and internationally.

TPS Hunter Valley will also see the crowning of the inaugural Webex All Abilities Series High Performance Grant recipients, awarded to the best performing players at each event and across the series.

PGA of Australia CEO Gavin Kirkman said “TPS Hunter Valley is the culmination of our four Webex Players Series events and will have a real focus on accessibility, both for our players and spectators.”

“We’re delighted to partner with Regional NSW to bring TPS Hunter Valley back to the region for the second year in a row. The local community really got behind the event in 2022 and we’re excited to see the next evolution of that in 2023 delivering Family Day, the Hunter Valley Showcase and the finale of the inaugural All Abilities Players Series

“An increase in prize money in 2023 and rave reviews from players last year means a stellar field of young talent is set to compete in this unique event.”

TPS Hunter Valley was funded through a $125,000 grant under Round Two of the NSW Government’s Regional Events Acceleration Fund.

Upper Hunter MP Dave Layzell said the event is great news for the entire community.

“The return of The Players Series is a welcome vote of confidence in the Hunter Valley with the Regional Events Acceleration Fund helping local events, like this one, go from strength to strength and putting regional NSW on the map,” Mr Layzell said.

“We know that hosting events in regional areas attracts visitors to towns, and those guests will spend money in local shops, grab a bite to eat at a local restaurant or café, and boost regional businesses and economies.

“The Players Series is also helping highlight the full range of tourism options available in the Hunter Valley – from some of Australia best wines, fine dining, and quality accommodation through to top-level golf courses nestled among picturesque scenery.”

On Saturday 25 February TPS Hunter Valley will feature a Family Day with a range of kids activities and golf clinics available for the little ones as well as a Hunter Valley Showcase featuring some of the best produce from the region and an All Abilities golf clinic open made possible thanks to the support of Regional NSW.

TPS Hunter Valley is uniquely positioned against the backdrop of the spectacular Broken Back Mountain Range and amongst some of the oldest vineyards in Australia.

We’d like to acknowledge the support of Webex, Regional NSW, Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort and the R&A in bringing TPS Hunter Valley to life.
