Links Kennedy Bay

Profile

A prominent West Australian golf architect, Michael Coate started in the business with Peter Thomson and Mike Wolveridge but branched out by himself in the 1980s establishing a firm that has built courses in and around Perth and across the South East Asian region. His most notable creation was the Links at Kennedy Bay, which Coate routed and principally designed, with some help from tour players Ian Baker-Finch and Roger MacKay. He also designed the Araluen Country Club with MacKay.

Kennedy Bay displays a high level of design competence and is a faithful tribute to the links of Great Britain, the layout taking advantage of the area’s notoriously changing trade winds and bumping its way across a softly undulating parcel of links ground with great variety and strategic interest throughout.
