Profile

Born and raised on the US East Coast, George C. Thomas is revered in architectural circles, principally, for his golf course design work on the West Coast. His most influential creations can be found in and around Los Angeles, specifically the North Course at LA Country Club, Bel-Air and, his most famous work, Riviera.

Thomas grew up in Philadelphia, and was said to have been friends with designers like Hugh Wilson (Merion), A.W. Tillinghast (Winged Foot, Baltusrol, San Francisco and many more) and George Crump. It’s understood he had some involvement with Pine Valley, visiting the course while under construction and discussing design ideas with Crump.
